Joseph Head family papers, 1793-1930.

Family papers of Joseph Head, 1793-1930, include letters received by him and his brother John Frazier Head from their father Joseph Head, mother Eleanor Frazier Head, and grandfather Nathan Frazier of London, England while studying at Pemberton Academy in Billerica, Mass.; letters received from his brother and father while studying at Harvard College (Class of 1804); a letter to his brother describing a trip by coach to Providence, Rhode Island, 1802; a letter to his wife Anna Frances Barnett proposing marriage and her acceptance, 1815; and other miscellaneous letters his wife, brother, sister Elisa Head; and family friend Jeremiah Belknap. Papers also contain an account book kept while at Harvard, 1800-04; postcards; newspaper clippings; a small alphabet practice book of his daughter Eleanor Davis Head; and unverified transcriptions of many of the letters with notes presumably made by the transcriber. Also contains the papers of Head's grandson Dr. Joseph Head, D.D.S. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, including to letters him regarding his possible service in the Army during WWI; a typescript written by his mother Elizabeth Lean Fields Head in 1908 regarding his birth during the Civil War in 1862; and letters regarding his retirement from dentistry in 1930.
